This course is located on the beautiful island of Cozumel, which is approximately a 30 minutes ferry ride from the dock in Playa del Carmen, and another 15 minute ride upon arrival to the center of the island from the ferry dock. Cozumel Country Club, open since 2001 and designed by famous golfer Jack Nicklaus has a fantastic course layout surrounded by mangrove marshlands and tropical jungle which still provides a challenge for players of every skill level. The club house is an open-air grassed roofed palapa with all your typical amenities which makes for a true island experience.
In March of 2006, Cozumel Country Club became the first golf course in all of Mexico to earn the designation of certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary from Audubon International for their exceptional environmental preservation. The first ancient mayan name for this island was ”Cuzamil” which meant “land of the swallows” because of the vast variety of swallows among other birds that lived there and still continue to this day. So during your round of golf bring some binoculars or keep a close eye, you might just see some exotic creatures flying around!
