Whale Sharks Off The Isla Holbox

SWIMMING UP CLOSE in the natural environment of the Gulf Of Mexico with the Ocean’s LARGEST FISH: The “WHALE SHARK”. These huge sea creatures are found off the coast of Holbox Island, Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo near Cancún.  When Tee’d Off Tee Times is not booking golf in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen we took this first ever challenge.  Simply Amazing. WHALE SHARKS are harmless & Non Threatening to humans. In fact, they seem to enjoy their interaction with the curious people to come to swim with them. They migrate to Holbox Island every May through September. We travel to their habitat in the Gulf Of Mexico aboard a small boat with the Captain and Trained Guide. The trip began on Isla Holbox at 7:30am where with the team from Cholenco’s Tours greeted us.   We received a small breakfast on board while traveling to the migration area of these large Sharks and were treated to viewing the abundant sea & bird life found around Isla Holbox. On this day we saw Schools of Dolphins, Flocks of Flamingos, Stingrays, Ibis, Egrets,Pelicans, Cucaracha Del Mar and much much more.  This is where we stopped for lunch.  Just glad my eyes found this and not my feet.  Captain Cholenco and crew prepared the tastiest ceviche and sashimi.  Returned to the hotel at 5pm.  What a day if your not Golfing in Paradise!
