Final Days Zurich Classic 2014

Ben Martin shot a 5-under 67 on Friday to maintain a course-record pace at TPC Louisiana, keeping him atop the leaderboard through two rounds of the Zurich Classic. After breaking the course record with a 62 on Thursday, Martin opened the second round with two birdies and an eagle on his first four holes. Who is Ben Martin? ben martinBen Martin is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour. As an amateur, Martin played in three major championships and was the runner-up at the 2009 U.S. Amateur. That was then and this is now at the Zurich Classic.  Martin said Friday. “I was thinking about winning every week and I was missing cuts. It was really frustrating,”

He’s since refocused his goals (he’s aiming to make the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola) and, as cliché as it might sound, the rest is starting to take care of itself. Friday he fired 67 to open up a three-shot lead at TPC Louisiana.

“Now it’s a week-by-week thing where I can say, all right, I’m creeping up the FedExCup list. I think that takes a lot of the pressure off.”

Tee’d Off Tee Times wishes Ben the best with the final days at the Zurich Classic.

Golf Shot Dictionary

golf p2A “Hook Shot” is normally a badly hit ball that curves hard left. A hook can be from a hitting the ball with a closed club face, or bringing your upper body around too quickly. A shot that hooks is very hard to control so it is rarely a shot played on purpose. A “Slice Shot” is the complete opposite of a “Hook Shot”, it is when the ball curve hard right. A slice is the most common mistake of amateur golfers, by hitting the ball with an open club face and causing the ball to slice hard right. A slice can also be from moving your lower body quicker than your upper body making it so your club face is open on impact. A “Draw Shot” starts out straight but slightly curves left or “draws to the left”. A draw shot can be a shot played on purpose but normally only by skilled golfers. For the amateur a having a shot with a draw is normally because of a closed club face on impact, or swinging slightly inside-out. A “Fade Shot” is the complete opposite of a “Draw Shot” it starts out straight and slightly curves right. Again this shot can be played on purpose but normally only by skilled golfers. A shot with a fade can be caused from an open club face on impact or by swinging slightly outside-in. http://bit.ly./TeedOffMain http://teedoff.com.mx/cancun-golf-courses/

RBC Heritage Delay

choi-847-maddie-meyer-22HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — K.J. Choi took advantage of an early tee time Friday at Harbour Town, making six birdies en route to a 67 and a one-shot lead at 5 under before heavy rain forced play to be suspended for the day. Robert Allenby is a shot back, though he only got in five holes before the horn sounded. “I’ll just pick it back up (Saturday) and hopefully I can just keep going the way I’m going,” Allenby said. “I feel like I’m playing well and hitting the ball well and making a few putts here and there.” Despite making just five of 14 cuts this season, Allenby had it going Friday with birdies on each of his first two holes. For the week, the Aussie has hit 18 of 23 greens and taken just 36 putts through his first 23 holes. Five others, including former world No. 1 Luke Donald, are tied for third at 3 under. Of that group, only three of them completed the second round. Donald was one of them. “It’s nice to get that good draw sometimes,” said Donald, who had a 69. “Usually it evens itself out over the course of a year. But it looks like I’m on the right side of the draw this week.” Only half the field completed the second round and play is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday. Rain, however, is expected to continue throughout the night and well into the next day. Eight other players, meanwhile, are currently 2 under, including defending champion Graeme McDowell, who opened with a 71 and was 2 under through his first six holes Friday. By Brian Wacker

Masters and Matt Jones

Matt jone day 4HUMBLE, Texas — Matt Jones told his caddy he was about to make a 42-yard chip-in on the first playoff hole at the Houston Open.

The Australian did just that on Sunday, earning his first PGA Tour win in spectacular fashion — and changing his immediate travel plans that includes wife Melissa Weber Jones and other family members.

Jones, who began the day six shots off the lead, shot a final-round 66 and ended the tournament 15 under to earn his first trip to the Masters with the dramatic win over Matt Kuchar.

He earned nearly $1.2 million for the win, also making amends for a disastrous missed putt last September that appeared destined to keep him from playing at Augusta National.

“Going to Augusta is amazing,” Jones said. “The win means everything to me right now because that’s what we play for is to win. To have Augusta as a reward for that win is amazing.”

Meet Melissa Weber Jones also known as Melissa Jones, she is the utterly beautiful PGA WAG married to the Aussie golfer Matt Jones who is rocking at the golf course in Houston. Picture taken day of the win.Melissa-Weber-Jones-Matt-Jones-wife-pics1-300x300
